COMMON QUESTIONS

Will I understand the message even if I don’t know much about the Bible?

Our messages are prepared to connect with people’s lives by using the ageless wisdom of the Bible. The services are designed to be easily understood by individuals checking out what it really means to have a personal relationship with Jesus as well as those who have been committed Christ-followers for many years. We hope you’ll find our services to be very helpful in your personal spiritual growth.

What if I come from a different Christian faith background?

While CBC is a non-denominational Bible church, people who attend come from a wide variety of faith backgrounds-Catholic, Lutheran, etc. Together, we focus on biblical truth and teachings, and pursuing an active relationship with Jesus Christ. You don’t have to be a member of a specific religious denomination to do that.

Do I have to dress up?

At CBC you’ll see lots of people in business casual, khakis or jeans and not so many in suits and dresses. You’re welcome to dress casually, and come as you are.

How do people at CBC express worship?

“Worship” involves communication with God from our hearts. We believe in a variety of different expressions in worshipping God. On the stage, you might see worship leaders clapping or raising their hands while they sing and the musicians play various instruments. As a CBC attendee, you are welcome to worship God in a way you feel expresses your heart toward Him. For some that’s quietly reflecting on the words, for others it's clapping and singing out.

What different music styles are available?

Community Bible Church offers various music styles. Our worship teams lead us in a blend of upbeat songs of praise, intimate songs of worship, and hymns.

Is there something for the kids?

Community Bible Church has wonderful programming for your entire family available during both Sunday services. While parents are participating in the service, kids can have fun and learn about God at their level. For more information, ask any greeter at the door, or visit the Welcome Center in the Lobby.

Are you going to hit me up for money?

As part of our worship, people give back a portion of their incomes as an offering. You are welcome to participate, but don’t feel any pressure to give. This is an act of worship for our regular attendees allowing them to thank God for all of the great work He is doing in their lives. It also gives Community Bible Church the means to reach more people for Christ in the future.

What if I’m not even sure I believe in God?

Perhaps you haven’t made a decision to accept Christ but would like to know more about it - that’s a good thing! It means you’re asking questions about spiritual things and how they might relate to your life. You are welcome to explore answers to your questions here. If you would like to speak with someone about your questions, please contact us. In addition, we occasionally offer a special study where you can find out more about living a life devoted to Jesus Christ.

How do I get involved?

Attending Sunday services is a great start, but we hope you’ll move beyond being just part of the Sunday crowd. You can further your faith, meet people and learn more about life as a Christ-follower by joining one of our many Life Groups.

NEED JESUS?

How you can KNOW you are going to Heaven?

The Bible tells us that God loves people and created a good world where He and people lived in close relationship, but that people chose to go their own way (sin) and break fellowship with God. "For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God." Romans 3:23

  • The cost for sinning, rejecting God, was and is great - Death. "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." Romans 6:23a.
  • However, God, because of His great love for us, sent Jesus to die in our place. "But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us." Romans5:8
  • By paying our sin price, death, He became the one and only bridge back to God, to eternal life. "But the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." Romans 6:23b
  • The decision we need to make is to take that first step of faith to trust Jesus and receive Him into our heart. "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." John 3:16 "Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God" John 1:12
  • Upon choosing Christ, the Bible tells us that we now KNOW that we have eternal life and a place in heaven. "I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life." I John 5:13

You can get started in your new relationship with God through Jesus, by announcing your decision to trust Christ through a prayer like this:

"Lord Jesus, I want to know you personally. Thank you for dying on the cross for my sins. I open the door of my life and receive You as my Savior and Lord. Thank you for forgiving my sins and giving me eternal life. Take control of my life, make me the person You want me to be."

Please share your decision with someone and take steps to get connected into a church family. We at Community Bible Church would love to have you be a part of our family! Our desire is to encourage you to trust Christ and to help you grow in Him. To speak with one our our leaders, contact the church office at (717) 426-1345.
